Cambria Fire Department rescues seal
A firefighter out of Cambria is getting a "seal" of approval for a water rescue Sunday afternoon.
The Cambria Fire Department got called just before 1 p.m. to help rescue a seal tangled in some fishing line near San Simeon Cove.
In the video, you can see firefighter Ryan Mort on a paddle board trying to help the seal with a large hook in its belly.
After a couple of minutes, the seal jumps on the paddle board. Mort was then able to cut the line and free the seal.
Beachgoers watched the rescue and cheered from the pier.
The Marine Mammal Center was assisting the seal and called for help. CAL FIRE SLO was also there to help.
