UPDATE: Six people displaced after fire destroys home in Santa Maria

UPDATE (3:40 p.m.) - Six people are displaced after a fire destroyed a home in Santa Maria Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials said the house is a total loss, but firefighters were able to save part of the garage.

No injuries have been reported.

Some of the people displaced will go to stay temporarily with other family members while some will be housed by the Red Cross.

The fire is out and crews remain on scene mopping up.

The cause of the house fire is under investigation.

ORIGINAL STORY (2:06 p.m.) - The Santa Maria City Fire Department is responding to reports of a residential structure fire Saturday afternoon in Santa Maria.

The fire was initially reported shortly before 1:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of Kingston Drive, according to the PulsePoint app.

It is not yet known if there are occupants inside the residence or if there are any injuries.

The fire department did not immediately respond to calls from KSBY News.

KSBY is sending a crew to the scene of the fire to get more information.
