Solvang is kicking off its annual Julefest this weekend by bringing back a scavenger hunt tradition.
The 'Nisse Adventure' is a scavenger hunt through downtown Solvang in search of a danish gnome named Nisse.
Organizers have hidden Nisse in city landmarks and storefronts all throughout and participants have to scan a QR code to get clues and track him down.
Once you discover all his hiding spots, you’ll be able to choose from a selection of Solvang-centric prizes.
Some people participating in the scavenger hunt Saturday said it's a great way to have fun during the holiday season and celebrate Danish heritage.
"There's not a lot of places in Southern California where you go to be Danish," Pete Petersen who's visiting from Orange County said.
He and is wife Terry are exploring the traditions the quaint Danish town has to offer.
"We're on the hunt to find our Danish heritage so here's the best time to come around is Christmas time," Terry said.
The scavenger hunts ends January 1st which is also the last day you can see the fairy-tale Christmas lights and decorations in Solvang.
