A DUI investigation is underway following a crash west of Santa Maria Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at Brown and Betteravia roads at about 2:38 p.m.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says “significant speeds” were involved in the crash involving two vehicles and extrication was required.

One person was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital and another was flown with critical injuries to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, fire officials said.
The road was back open shortly before 3:30 p.m.
