The San Luis Obispo County Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures released the crop production statistics for 2019.
According to a press release, the overall crop value fell 5.5% from 2018 to $979,009,000 dollars.
“Due to many factors such as supply, demand and available markets, agricultural values will vary from year to year and although we saw a slight decline in overall crop values in 2019, the agricultural industry remains a strong and vital segment of our local economy” Martin Settevendemie, Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer, said in the release.
However, county officials said 2019 is the second highest annual crop value for on record for San Luis Obispo County.
The top ten products were:
1. Strawberries
2. Wine grapes (all)
3. Broccoli
4. Avocados
5. Vegetable transplants
6. Cattle and calves
7. Cauliflower
8. Cut flowers
9. Head lettuce
10. Lemons
