Crews respond to water rescue at Hazard Canyon Reef in Montana de Oro

Emergency crews responded to reports of a water rescue at Hazard Canyon Reef in Montana de Oro in Los Osos Saturday morning.

According to a CAL FIRE SLO spokesperson, dispatchers received a report at approximately 11:14 a.m of a surfer who had possibly suffered a heart attack at the reef. Officials with CAL FIRE SLO, California State Parks and California Highway Patrol's H-70 responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found that the surfer was pulled from the water before emergency crews arrived at the scene, according to the CAL FIRE SLO spokesperson.

CAL FIRE SLO authorities said the surfer was injured but could not confirm the person's exact injuries nor the extent of those injuries.
