The City of San Luis Obispo is building new fencing near the railroad track.
City officials say the new fence will serve as a barrier between the Railroad Safety Trail and the railroad that runs through the city.
Officials want to prevent people from crossing over the track and putting their lives in danger.
San Luis Obispo is required to maintain the fencing at the Railroad Safety Trail as part of an agreement with Union Pacific Railroad.
