The Lompoc Police Department has four new police vehicles, thanks to a local dealership.
Officials with the police department said the department has not been able to buy any new vehicles for the past seven years, with most of their current vehicles having more than 130,000 miles.
As the city of Lompoc struggles with a budget deficit, Sunset Chevrolet in Lompoc knocked off $4,000-8,000 dollars off the original price of each new car, with the sales tax for each purchase going back to the city.
"We wanted to make sure the patrol officers who have to respond at the ready to '911' calls have the best equipment," said Lompoc Chief of Police Joe Mariani.
Officials say it typically costs $50,000-60,000 for a new patrol vehicle.
