Certified Auto Repair in San Luis Obispo is giving out free oil changes to “hometown heroes.”
The owner, Isaac Feldman, said the business started this program after being inspired by restaurants giving out free food to first responders and homeless individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the owner, they’ve done about 250 free oil changes.
“We’re not going to save the world by giving someone an oil change, but we’d like to show some appreciation out there,” Feldman said.
The owner created an email address, hometownheros@carofslo.com, to allow members of the community to nominate someone – whether it’s a first responder or someone who deserves it – for a free oil change. All they need is to send an email with the nominees contact information or their contact information and they will reach out.
“I just feel like any time you are able to help somebody, it’s really good to do it,” Feldman said. “And so for us, we’re just really happy that we can support people and do some good deeds, and run a business at the same time.”
