The Cayucos Pier is back open following a brief closure Wednesday.
San Luis Obispo County Parks & Recreation says the closure was needed so that a fire line on the pier could be tested to make sure it works properly.
The line would be used should any fires on the pier break out. County officials say it is not kept pressurized but tested periodically.
The pier was closed between 8 a.m. and noon for the testing.
