California State Parks to conduct prescribed burn near Cambria, San Simeon
Residents near Cambria and San Simeon could smell smoke within the next few days.
California State Parks is conducting a prescribed burn at Hearst San Simeon State Park within Highway 1, Van Gordon Creek and San Simeon Creek Road.
Crews are planning to burn brush piles between Saturday and Tuesday, and then Thursday through Friday.
Burning could start as early as 7 a.m., with fires out by approximately 5 p.m.
The goal is to reduce the risk of wildfires, as well as, prepare for forest restoration and planting of Monterey pine seedlings.
