The final numbers are in for the California Mid-State Fair Junior Livestock Auction.
The auction went virtual this year when the fair was canceled because of COVID-19.
There were fewer exhibitors, but the 4-H and FFA students from San Luis Obispo and southern Monterey Counties still managed to raise more than $1.2 million, which surpassed this year's goal.
$400,000 of the pledges came from add-ons.
"Our add on number is record breaking and add-ons are just for family or businesses to support an exhibitor directly, they do not get meat or an animal in return. It's just a flat donation," Hailey Rose Switzer said, the fairgrounds special programs coordinator.
A total of 565 animals were exhibited.
The 2021 California Mid-State Fair runs July 21 - August 1 and will be the fair's 75th anniversary.
