Thousands of families usually pour into Spanos Stadium this weekend in hopes of saving the coveted shaded seats for graduation.
This year, Cal Poly San Luis Obipso graduates and their families piled onto their couches to watch virtual commencement ceremonies from home.
The university announced the postponement of in-person ceremonies in March due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
Many students were devastated when spring quarter classes, events and graduation celebrations were canceled, but many still found creative ways to have fun.
Nearly 5,000 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo students graduated this year, according to Cal Poly SLO.
The university sent out a pre-recorded tribute to graduates on Friday, June 12th.
Graduates and their families also received a virtual commencement booklet.
According to the university's website, an in-person commencement for the Class of 2020 is still in the planning process, but few details are currently available about when, where and how it might happen.
