Update (9:20 p.m.) - CALFIRE says one person died in a crash on Highway 1 near Stenner Creek Road in San Luis Obispo.
California Highway Patrol said a man was driving a black Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound and drifted off the roadway. The vehicle crashed into some trees then bounced back into the roadway where an oncoming Ford pickup truck struck the vehicle.
Fire officials say the driver of the Toyota Corolla died on the scene. The driver of the Ford pickup truck was not injured.
One lane of southbound Highway 1 has been closed since 6:41 p.m. and will remain closed until officials finish their investigation.

Original story: Firefighters are responding to a fatal crash in San Luis Obispo.
Fire officials say the crash happened on southbound Highway 1 near Stenner Creek Road at around 6:40 p.m.
According to CHP two vehicles were involved in the crash.
Fire officials say one person was declared dead on the scene, another person involved had no injuries.
