CAL FIRE SLO crews respond to Nipomo home fire, 1 hospitalized

CAL FIRE SLO firefighters extinguished a fire Sunday afternoon inside a home in Nipomo that resulted in one person being transported to a hospital.

According to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Eric Shalhoob, crews responded to reports of a structure fire on the 200 block of West Price Street in Nipomo at about 2 p.m.

When first responders arrived, they saw a neighbor pulling one person out of the home and resuscitating the victim.

CAL FIRE SLO crews took over and transported the victim to a hospital. The person is currently in critical care, said Shalhoob.

Shalhoob says two occupants were inside the home at the time of the fire, but there are no known injuries to anyone else.

Officials say they found the fire inside a bedroom and knocked it down quickly. The fire resulted in minimal damage to the bedroom.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
