Bystanders help man who fell off cliff at Pirate's Cove, officials say

UPDATE (9:35 p.m.) - CAL FIRE SLO says the man suffered a head injury and was unconscious, but still breathing after he fell.

It is unclear the status of his condition.

ORIGINAL STORY (5:53 p.m.) - Emergency crews with CAL FIRE SLO are responding to reports of a man who fell off a cliff at Pirate's Cove in Avila Beach on Saturday around 5:30 p.m.

CAL FIRE SLO officials say the person who fell from the cliff was a 20-year-old male.

The patient fell approximately 15-20 feet onto rocks in the water, according to authorities.

CAL FIRE SLO says bystanders pulled the patient out of the water.

Officials could not confirm the extent of the patient's injuries.
