A heads-up for drivers: traffic will be impacted on Highway 1 near Lompoc as Caltrans crews replace the Salsipuedes Creek bridge.

Crews will also build a retaining wall and fish passage in the area.

A 24-7 traffic signal will be set up to help drivers navitage two-way traffic on southbound Highway 1. Meanwhile, on the northbound side of the highway, crews will be working on constructing the bridge.

The work was paused during the winter months because of rain.

The lanes will be narrowed to allow for construction so oversized vehicles will need to take an alternate route.

Caltrans officials estimate the project will be finished by the end of the year.
