In a statement on Wednesday, Atascadero Police say the human remains found at a home under construction are likely Native American.
The remains were discovered on Tuesday by the contractor working on the property of a home on Acacia Road. Police say they immediately got a hold of an anthropologist who said they were likely Native American human remains.
Police add that other items were found along with the remains.
APD says the case was turned over to the anthropologist and the Coroners Division of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office for further investigation.
