While the families and friends of the victims of the Conception boat fire may struggle to process what happened, resources are also being set up for first responders.
The At Ease program organized by the Santa Barbara Police Foundation says they are trying to make contact with first responders who have been involved in the search and recovery parts of this tragedy.
A chaplain with the program says first responders may not even realize the trauma until after the recovery mission is over, as he believes this tragedy is unlike most they respond to.
"To deal with death is something that happens frequently in this line of work but to deal with it at this level, it can be overwhelming and it takes things to another level so we have to be very careful and take care of each other and that's what we do with this program," said Mike McGrew, At Ease Program Director.
