The City of Arroyo Grande moves forward in becoming the first in San Luis Obispo County to ban the sale of vape products and devices.

On Tuesday, the city council approved to move forward with the ordinance with a 4-1 vote.

The ordinance would ban the sale of vaping products and vaping devices within city limits, unless they are FDA approved.

The council also moved forward with an ordinance that would prohibit people under age 21 from possessing all tobacco products, including vapes.

The ordinance will now go back to the city council for the first reading and public comment.

The City of Morro Bay is also considering a number of restrictions on the use and sale of vaping products. Those potential restrictions will be discussed further at the next Morro Bay City Council meeting.

Atascadero city leaders passed in September a ban on the use of vapes in just about all public places.
