Arrest made in connection with stabbing of man in San Luis Obispo

A man is facing assault with a deadly weapon charges in connection with a stabbing in San Luis Obispo Thursday.

San Luis Obispo police say they responded at about 12:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Higuera Street for reports of the stabbing.

When they arrived, they found a 49-year-old man who reportedly told officers he was standing in front of a business when he was approached by another man.

The two became involved in some sort of confrontation before the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim, according to police.

Officers searched the area and say they found a man matching the description of the suspect nearby in the area of the Highway 101 overpass near Higuera Street.

Police say the victim was able to confirm that was the man who stabbed him.

Officers arrested Brian O’Neal Twyman, 45, who police say is a transient, and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000.

Police say the victim was treated at the hospital for a cut to his stomach and has since been released.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call San Luis Obispo police.

Witnesses can also remain anonymous.
