Allan Hancock College officially broke ground on their new Fine Arts Complex at the Santa Maria Campus on Sept. 30.
According to the college press release, the construction of the facility costs $48 million. They hosted a ceremony with Hancock administrations, members of the Board of Trustees and representatives from various community organizations.
The complex features two stories and 88,000 square feet, along with a 400-seat concert and recital venue for the college’s arts programs, the release said.
“This facility is going to be a tremendous asset to our college and community. We are going to be able to bring all of our media arts and all of our fine arts into one space and create a wonderful synergy for our students in those programs,” Hancock Superintendent/President Kevin G. Walthers, Ph.D., said in the release. “This is going to be one of the largest projects we’ve ever undertaken at Hancock.”
