The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said 50-year-old Patrick Neisinger of Lompoc was killed in Friday’s head-on crash on Highway 1 north of Constellation Rd. near Vandenberg Village and outside Lompoc.
The sheriff’s office identified the victim Wednesday and said his family has been notified.
One other person was critically injured in the crash.
California Highway Patrol said the two-car crash was first reported at about 11:09 a.m.
CHP said witnesses told officers that a car heading southbound tried to pass other cars by driving onto the grassy center median. The vehicle lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a white SUV head-on, officers said. Neisinger was reportedly driving that vehicle.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
