The Morro Bay Coast Guard has called off its search for a possible missing kayaker off the coast of Cambria.
Rescue crews responded to Leffingwell Landing at Moonstone Beach Monday around 4 p.m. after reports came in of an overturned kayak about 100 feet offshore.
Rangers said it appeared the kayak had been used recently as it had fish onboard that were still alive along with energy drinks and fishing gear.
So far, no one has been found and no missing person reports have been made.
The Morro Bay Coast Guard says it called off the search around midnight but adds that doesn’t mean the search is over.
The Coast Guard says other agencies could still come in with larger boats or other equipment to conduct another search.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach command center personnel at (310) 521-3801.
