The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center announced its plans for expansion at their annual gala Saturday night.
Renderings created by the museum planner show the center’s plan to update and add multiple exhibits, as well as a classroom, a kitchen for community cooking classes, and a retail space.
One of the new exhibits will be a 15-foot sphinx that is in the process of being excavated from the dunes.
The Dunes Center has secured more than $60,000 in funding for the expansion.
Doug Jenzen, Executive Director at the museum says the extension is necessary in order to accommodate the 20,000 visitors they see every year.
