UPDATE: Minivan crashes into farm tractors near Santa Maria

UPDATE (7:43 p.m.) – The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reports that two people suffered critical injuries Friday evening in a rollover crash on Brown Rd., west of Highway 1 near Guadalupe.

Fire officials say the vehicle went approximately 20 feet off the roadway and landed on its roof in a ditch.

The two people inside were reportedly trapped and first responders had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate them.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

The crash occurred about 45 minutes after two people were injured when a minivan struck two farm tractors on Black Rd.


 

UPDATE (6:55 p.m.) – Black Rd. west of Santa Maria was reopened to traffic at about 6:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol, after a minivan crashed into a couple of tractors.

According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the male driver struck two farm tractors that were parked on the righthand shoulder of the highway.

He reportedly suffered critical injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Fire officials say a female passenger also suffered major injuries.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.

At about 6:45 p.m., a second crash was reported a short distance away near the intersection of Highway 1 and Brown Rd. The CHP reported the crash involved a vehicle rollover into a ditch with people possibly trapped inside. No other details were immediately available.


 

(6:35 p.m.) – A crash shut down a portion of Black Rd. west of Santa Maria on Friday.

The crash, involving a farm tractor and another vehicle, happened just before 6 p.m. near the intersection with Highway 1.
