The French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo is remodeling and expanding its emergency department.
Construction is currently underway for the new “Oppenheimer Family Center for Emergency Medicine.”
The first phase will add 8,900 square feet to the facility and is expected to open later this year.
The current emergency room only has two private patient rooms and three to four open rooms.
This completed project will have 18 private treatment rooms, three trauma rooms, and many more rooms to accommodate patients.
“It will really help the community because we know that it would save lives and help people in their greatest time of need,” says Peter Oppenheimer, Vice-Chair of the Community Board.
The second phase will re-model the existing emergency department and is expected to be completed in January 2020.
