The California Highway Patrol is hoping new leads will lead to the arrest of a man who ran from a crash in Paso Robles early Monday morning along Highway 101.

Officers have been looking for Pedro Alvarado-Torres, 40, of King City, since the crash occurred shortly before 2 a.m. near the Spring Street exit.

Officers say Alvarado-Torres was driving the wrong way when he crashed into a car driven by a 62-year-woman from Atascadero leaving her with moderate injuries. He then ran off, officers say.

Following that crash, two Paso Robles residents stopped to help the victim and were hit by a vehicle that lost control due to debris in the road, according to CHP.

Monica Cantu, 55, died at the scene. Raul Gomez, 49, was hospitalized with major injuries, according to CHP.

As of Tuesday morning, officers were still looking for Alvardaro-Torres, who is facing charges.

Anyone with information on where he may be is asked to call CHP at (805) 434-1822.
