Fourth of July celebrations started early for some people on the Central Coast.
Locals and tourists crowded the beach in Cayucos for the annual sand sculpture competition, which started at 5 a.m.
On Ocean Avenue, hundreds of people lined the street for the Fourth of July parade, which kicked off at 10 a.m.
“We come the day before and put out our chairs,” said Carol Ann Stephens, parade attendee. “So this is our spot, so we just always have it and our friends next to us, they always have theirs so we just kind of watch out for each other and we’ve been doing it for a long time.”
First responders, local businesses and community members were all part of the parade.
The annual holiday celebrations will conclude tonight with a fireworks show at the end of the Cayucos Pier.
The show is scheduled to start at 9 p.m.
