Tuesdays in the Park in Atascadero supports area non-profits

San Luis Obispo County community members gathered at Atascadero Lake Park Tuesday to help support homelessness in the area.

ECHO homeless shelter, Elks Organization and the Chamber of Commerce held the family-friendly Tuesdays in the Park barbecue.

All of the proceeds raised on Tuesday benefit Echo and its mission to end homelessness in the community.

There will be a fundraiser held at the park every Tuesday, supporting a different non-profit for the rest of the summer.

Organizers with ECHO say the event is a great way to bring the community together. “Last year we served almost 500 meals,” says ECHO’s Chief Executive Officer Wendy Lewis. “My favorite part is that the people we serve come here and enjoy the meal with the community, so we are all just one community helping people facing homelessness.”

Organizers with ECHO also say they are in need of volunteers, especially during the summer months when Cal Poly students are gone.
