The City of Santa Maria is giving out signs to residents who’d rather not hear fireworks going off around their home this July 4th.

The signs, which can be placed in a home’s front yard or window, indicate that a noise-sensitive resident lives there.

“This is just another reminder to just please think about being considerate,” said Mark van de Kamp, City of Santa Maria Public Relations Manager.

The free signs are available at the city’s manager’s office.

The city has given out about 200 signs in the four years of this program.
