Rugged Radios made a more than $30,000 donation to the Mission Hope Cancer Center in Santa Maria on Wednesday.

The company, which is based in Arroyo Grande, specializes in two-way communications for offroad and recreational vehicles.

They were inspired to raise money for the center when one of their employees, 34-year-old Taryn Timothy, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

Proceeds from the sales of special pink two-way radios were split between Taryn to help with her medical costs and the Mission Hope Cancer Center where she has been receiving treatment.

“It was just incredible to raise this money for Taryn,” said Greg Cottrell, President/Owner of Rugged Radios. “It breaks my heart that she is in the position that she is in but I’m just overjoyed, overwhelmed with the amount of care and support that she has gotten from Mission Hope.”
