Crews are making progress on a new elementary school in Santa Maria.
The school will be on College Drive and Meehan St. near the Santa Maria Cemetery.
Crews could be seen Wednesday working on what will be the two-story, energy-efficient school. Once finished, it will be the 17th elementary school in the City of Santa Maria.
Funding for the elementary school came from Measure T, which voters passed in 2014.
In total, construction is estimated to cost $40 million, but the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services told trustees that the cost could go up to $51 million when they buy furniture for the school.
