Santa Maria police looking for robbery suspect

Santa Maria police are looking for a second suspect believed to be involved in a strong-armed robbery near Memorial Park Monday night.

Police say at about 6:45 p.m., witnesses saw two suspects take off after punching someone, causing the victim to lose consciousness.

The suspects reportedly stole property from the victim.

Officers caught up with one of the suspects on the 900 block of N. Broadway. The 15-year-old boy was seen ditching the stolen items as he tried to run from police.

He is now in juvenile hall on suspicion of robbery and battery causing serious bodily harm.

The search for the other suspect is ongoing but police say they have limited information about that person.

Police did not provide an update on the victim’s condition.
