The San Luis Obispo City Fire Department held its Badge Pinning Ceremony on Friday.
Seven firefighter recruits were welcomed into the department and six engineers received promotions.
This was one of the biggest classes of recruits to be pinned in recent years.
The new probationary firefighters will be completing tasks to make sure they are ready to take on full-time positions at the San Luis Obispo City Fire Department.
“It’s honestly a dream. Any of these guys could tell you, any of the seven could tell you that this is their dream department. This is the town we want to be in. It’s not just the department, it’s the town, the family,” said Kenny Johnston, probationary firefighter.
