An aircraft management and maintenance company is adding onto its facility in San Luis Obispo.

ACI Jet was approved by Bombardier Business Aircraft to build an $18 million addition to its already existing facility.

It will grow the hangar space by 25,000 square feet and office space by 30,000 square feet.

The company expects about a 30 percent growth of service in the next year but wants to reassure residents that it will not impact the amount of air traffic in the area.

Instead, ACI Jet believes it will help the local economy.

“There will definitely be a local impact to the economy with the people who are bringing those airplanes here and spending those weeks on end here, overseeing those airplanes. Those people will be using our hotels, rental cars, they’ll be shopping locally, they’ll be eating at our restaurants, they’ll be going to our wineries, so they will be spending a lot of time here in our local economy and I think that’s going to bring quite a bit as well,” said Dave Jensen, Senior Vice President of Aircraft Maintenance at ACI Jet.

Over the next three to five years, ACI Jet expects to open up about 60 job positions in the repair department.
