Felony charges filed against suspects in deadly Santa Barbara stabbing

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office has filed felony charges against five people arrested in connection with a deadly stabbing in Santa Barbara.

Alberto Suarez Torres, 29, of Santa Barbara died at the hospital after he was found unconscious with multiple stab wounds early on the morning of Saturday, June 1.

The assault reportedly occurred in the 1300 block of Cacique St.

Police arrested four adults and one juvenile in connection with the crime.

On Friday, Angel Barajas, 31, Igor Ortiz, 19, and Adelain Ibarra, 20, were charged with murder and gang enhancements. Barajas and Ortiz also face special allegations that they used a deadly weapon in the attack. Court paperwork reveals that the weapon was a knife.

Ortiz faces an additional special allegation that he was out on bail for two pending felony cases when the murder was committed.

Alondra Ochoa, 18, was charged with being an accessory to murder and a gang enhancement.

All of the defendants, including the juvenile, were charged with conspiracy to commit street terrorism, as well.

The defendants were scheduled to be arraigned on Friday. The DA’s Office said additional charges may be filed in the coming weeks.
