Victim of deadly stabbing in Shandon identified

The victim of a deadly fight in Shandon over the weekend was identified by officials on Sunday.

In a press release, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Cristopher Vento Wilson, 23, of Paso Robles.

Deputies responded to a report of a fight on the 200 block of Escondido Way on Saturday around 5 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found Wilson with stab wounds.

He was transported to the hospital and later died of his injuries.

Authorities said during the course of the investigation, the 26-year-old suspect, who is not being identified yet, was leaving the area as a passenger in a vehicle.

Detectives followed the vehicle and made a “high-risk traffic stop” at the 4th Street exit off Highway 101 in Pismo Beach.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, the press release stated.

The release of the suspect’s name is pending further investigation.
