A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for northeastern San Luis Obispo County because of active thunderstorms.
Areas that may experience flooding include Carrizo Plain, California Valley, and Bitterwater Rd.
Doppler radar has picked up heavy rain across the area, with rain rates between 1 and 1.5 inches per hour.
The warning will be in place until 6:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service says excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots. In hilly terrain, there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
