Cuesta College is dedicating one of its buildings to a former educator.

The San Luis Obispo campus instructional building will be named after Dr. Frank R. Martinez.

Dr. Martinez joined Cuesta College in 1964 as Vice President/Assistant Superintendent. He became Superintendent/President in 1977 and remained in that position until 1988.

“It’s a pleasure to have been here and serve the people of this county,” Dr. Martinez said during a dedication ceremony Friday. “It’s a wonderful area, wonderful county and thank you for their support, especially the passing of the last bond election that made possible the building of that $12.4 million that would not have been possible if the people had not passed the bond election.”

The Cuesta College Board of Trustees approved the naming of the building in December.
