The Mid-Coast Veteran’s Alliance presented six hard-working students with scholarships Saturday in Santa Maria.

Each year the alliance awards students with a $1,000 scholarship.

Recipients must be a child or grandchild of an active or honorably discharged veteran and attend high school in the Santa Maria-Bonita School District, Orcutt Academy or be a member of the Mid-Coast Veteran’s Alliance.

6 highschool students were honored with a $1,000 scholarship Saturday.

“It means a lot to me because my dad was in the military for so long and he’s had such a big impact on my life and like we do a lot of military based things and like I’ve always had a greater appreciation for the military,” said Angela Morrill, a scholarship recipient.

The ceremony was held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building on Pine Street.
