A women’s fitness and apparel store occupying the former Gap space in downtown San Luis Obispo is set to open this summer.
Athleta announced on Twitter Wednesday evening it plans to open its store at 879 Higuera Street by early August.
The City of San Luis Obispo says the building has been divided into two suites and tenant improvement plans are under review for Athleta Inc., which would go into one of the newly-remodeled spaces.
Gap closed its downtown location earlier this year along with hundreds of other stores across the country.
Athleta’s website says it is a premium fitness and lifestyle brand and is part of The Gap, Inc.
