A group of skaters in San Luis Obispo got together for a “shreddin'” good time Saturday.
The Central Coast Monster Skate Park Series has been held at skate parks across the Central Coast in recent months.
On Saturday, the series completed its 16th year of providing a rip-roaring contest for local skaters of all abilities.
SLO Skate Park ambassador and pro-skater Kevin Rucks was also there to talk about the importance of skateboarding.
“It’s all about practice. You know a lot of people don’t view skateboarding because it’s not like football or baseball where you have to have a coach; it’s something you learn on your own. It’s like karate and dancing together and it’s really about self-discipline (and) it builds a lot of character. You’re constantly falling and getting back up and that’s the great thing about skateboarding that’s really attractive to people,” Rucks explained.
Prizes were given among the various age divisions and there was plenty of awesome tricks.
