Friday is National Bike to Work Day

Friday is National Bike to Work Day and cyclist on the Central Coast are encouraged to make their commute to work on two wheels.

Several businesses in San Luis Obispo County are taking part in the national event to elevate and expand the county’s bike culture.

There will be several stations across the county throughout the day handing out free stuff for cyclists.

Several “morning stations” will provide breakfast or food for cyclists riding to work early in the morning.

Some of the stations are located at:

  • Atascadero State Hospital
  • Los Osos Library
  • Cal Poly University Union
  • The Costco Wholesale in San Luis Obispo

Most of these stations will have breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 p .m.

Ride Share will have a lunch station from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Caltrans District 5 Headquarter. Any cyclist that stops bike will get a free taco and drink.

And of course, there will be several “evening stations” as people head home from work.

Some of these stations are located at:

  • Ten Over Studio on Marsh Street in San Luis Obispo
  • SLO Natural Foods Co-Op
  • South County Social Services

There will also be a Sunken Gardens Bike Fest at 5942 West Mall in Atascadero.

Most of the evening stations will be opened from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will provide snacks.
