A local student is being honored for his quick thinking that resulted in the fire department being called to his neighbor’s home last week.
The Templeton Community Services District says Templeton Fire Chief Bill White presented Josh Englant with a Good Citizen Award May 7 for his “heroic effort” in reporting a possible fire.
Officials say Englant’s mom called 911 after he told her there was smoke coming from his neighbor’s home.
Fire officials say alarms were going off at the home due to smoke caused by food left unattended on the stove.
“Fortunately, this was only a minor incident but it could have become a serious incident,” officials said in a press release.
Englant was praised for his quick thinking and action that day.
