Communities across the Central Coast celebrate Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is today, and there’s a healthy variety of events happening throughout the Central Coast for all moms and their families. Here are just a few.

Cookies Adventure at Charles Paddock Zoo in Atascadero

The 9th Annual Cookie Adventure is a cookie safari of sorts that’s both tasty and fun. Guests will be able to participate in zoo activities, learn more about some of the truly unique animal residents and enjoy a terrific sampling of yummy cookies while strolling through the zoo and its exhibits of over 200 animal species.

The adventure goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. More info here.

San Luis Obispo City Mother’s Day Concert

The Historic Jack House is hosting a picnic and concert with the Cal Poly Jazz Band. The Madonna Inn is providing complimentary cake in the house’s beautiful garden. There will also be a card-making station and lawn games. Families are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and any picnic attire they require.

The concert is free and goes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. More info here.

RISE Mother’s Day Picnic in Atascadero

The 11th Annual RISE Mother’s Day Picnic includes lawn games, an ice cream parlor and a spectacular menu from Chef Charlie. According to a press release, the menu includes champagne, fresh fruit, roasted bacon-wrapped tenderloins, sweet potatoes, grilled brocolinni, and apple rose pastries among other tasty treats. Proceeds will benefit the efforts of RISE to provide services for sexual assault survivors and their families.

The picnic starts at 11:30 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. More info here.

Santa Ynez Valley Kitchen Celebration

Chef Luca Crestanelli presents the Mother’s Day celebration at the Santa Ynez Valley Kitchen with an expansive lunch and dinner menu brimming with holiday favorite dishes for all families. Chef Luca offers Mother’s Day menu additions including Beef Meatballs with English Peas, Favas and Lemon; Grilled Yellowfin Tuna with Red Endive, French Beans and Mango, among other gourmet foods.

Lunch starts at 11:30 a.m. and goes until 2:30 p.m. Dinner starts at 5 p.m. until the restaurant closes. Click here for more info.

San Luis Obispo County Band Spring Concert in Arroyo Grande

The San Luis Obispo County Band is presenting “A Myriad of Music for Mother’s Day.” This evening concert will be presented at the First United Methodist Church of Arroyo Grande. Director Leonard Lutz has assembled this concert program with a variety of “Music for Every Ear,” a performance said to challenge the musicians that’s guaranteed to please the audience.
