Santa Maria elementary students learn how to take care of animals

Posted

Adam School Elementary students today visited the Santa Maria animal shelter as part of an animal ambassador program.

Organizers for the program say the experience teaches children valuable lessons in animal care, responsibility and community involvement.

Students got a chance to have fun with dogs and bunnies in the play yard.

“I love about animals how they’re very friendly like if you get nervous, an animal could calm you down and it could be like very secure with the animal like maybe you’re not confident with people you could be confident with animals,” said Kimberly Coronel, president of K-Kids.

The event was an opportunity for kids in the group to learn about animals including how to be kind and careful around service dogs.
