Victims injured in Oceano Dunes shooting released from hospital, suspect charged

Five people injured in a shooting at the Oceano Dunes early Sunday morning have been released from the hospital, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. A sixth person is due to be released sometime on Tuesday.

The shooting happened just after midnight at a large gathering.

Francisco Orozco, 19, of Oakland was arrested later that day.

On Tuesday, Orozco was charged with one count of attempted murder and five counts of assault with a semi-automatic handgun.

He is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning for arraignment.

The sheriff’s office says its investigation into the shooting is still ongoing. They’re asking anyone who has information about the incident or video from that night to call (805) 781-4550. Anonymous tips can be made by contacting Crime Stoppers online or at (805) 549-STOP.
