Burn season in Atascadero is now closed.
Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services announced the closing of the 2019 burning season on Monday.
Fire Chief Casey Bryson says that the large amounts of rain and rapid temperature increases caused the grasses to dry out quickly, increasing fire danger.
The Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services team recommends that residents take advantage of the Green Waste Recycling Program for fire prevention. You can find your area’s pick-up days by checking with Atascadero Waste Alternatives.
Residents are also encouraged to get their weed abatement done by the June 1 deadline.
