The San Luis Obispo department of parks and recreation is teaming up with the police department for the annual Bike Rodeo today at at Hawthorne Elementary School.
Kids get a chance to learn about bike safety techniques and take a ride through “Safety Town.”
The bike parade is led by police vehicles to make it a safe and unique experience.
If children don’t own a bike, they can borrow one for a day. Helmets will also be provided by the SLO County department of public health.
Local bike shop mechanics will also be on hand for tune-ups and helmets are check for proper fit. The event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
